THIS WEEK’S RACING – MAY 21-24

This week’s racing has something for just about any type of racing fan.

The biggest event in our area this weekend is the second round of the Over The Hill Gang Nationals hosted by the Reno chapter. Two days of racing, starting around 9 a.m. Saturday and Sunday, at the Fernley Lions Motocross or the Sandbox as it’s also known.

And there will be the traditional BBQ after the races on Saturday.

Racing for the weekend actually starts on Friday at 7 p.m. when Lovelock Speedway stages the next round of its series.

((Got late word that Lovelock Speedway canceled this event due to weather expected that night.))

On Saturday evening two oval tracks will be in action.

The IMCA Modifieds will headline the Saturday's racing at the Fernley 95A Speedway.

The Fernley 95A Speedway’s program begins at 6 p.m. and this week a “Frozen T-Shirt,” contest will highlight the intermission. Up in Honey Lake country Diamond Mountain Speedway, at the Lassen Fairground in Susanville, has a 7 p.m. start to their racing program.

Those racing in the VORRA series will compete Sunday, after pre-running the course on Saturday, in the Silver State Forklift Hawthorne 229. Racing begins at 8 a.m. Sunday as they compete on a course outside of Hawthorne.

Memorial Day weekend Sunday is one of the biggest racing days of the year and it all starts on NBC at 4:30 a.m. with the Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix.

The Indy 500, shown on ABC has a noon start to this classic race. Hopefully the weather won’t be a problem.

NASCAR’s Coke 600 is its longest race of the season and it will be broadcast on Fox with a 3 p.m. start to the action.

And NHRA fans can see the final eliminations, tape delayed, on ESPN 2 with a 7 p.m. start to that event.

Once again there is almost something for every type of racing fan. Be sure to support our local tracks as nothing can replace the sights, smells and sounds of seeing racing live. Not to mention rooting for a person’s favorite local driver.

Have a great weekend everybody but do give some time to remember what Memorial Day is for.

Nerdhood does not imply sexual or social ineptitude, nor do the latter imply nerdhood, despite there being a notable overlap between the three categories. That doesn mean that all the games were coded anew from scratch. Rather, the code on the SNES cartridges is copied onto the PC harddisk and then the emulator runs that copied snes code on simulated SNES hardware on the PC.
