RACING PREVIEW FOR THIS WEEK BOTH LIVE AND ON TELEVISION
This weeks’ racing preview highlights the only two area tracks that in action this weekend. Things are a bit calmer after last week when three regional tracks were in action.
To the north the Diamond Mountain Speedway, in Susanville, Calif. hosts another of its points races with the action beginning at 7 p.m. The track is located at the Lassen Fairgrounds.
Closer to home the Fernley 95A Speedway, starting at 6 p.m., is hosting the next round of its regular season with all the car classes is action. The Outlaw Karts will also be racing but their events happen earlier in the afternoon.
It’s a lull for two-wheel fans as the 2015 Supercross season ended in Las Vegas last Saturday. Ryan Dungey scored another victory but was challenged by Eli Tomac until a spill put him out of contention.
The 250 East/West shootout was a bit anti climatic as the west champion was unable to compete due to an injury. However the east champion, Marvin Musquin was able to ride and he scored the victory.
After resting this weekend many of the same riders will assemble for the annual race at Hangtown that begins the AMA Outdoor National series.
There will be a mix of racing on television.
MAVTV on Thursday at noon broadcasts the Perelli World Challenge from St. Petersberg, Florida.
On Friday Fox Sports one has NASCAR practice and qualifying from Kansas ending at 5:30 with the Camping World Truck series race.
Then on Saturday at noon, MAVTV carries the FIA World Rally Championship from Mexico. Later that same day, at 4:30 p.m. Fox Sports 1 broadcasts the NASCAR Sprint Cup race.
On the Internet there will be several races from various short tracks across the country shown on www.fanschoice.TV. Could be some interesting action at those races.
This weekend the Formula 1 series returns to its heartland of Europe for the Spanish Grand Prix. The race starts at 4:30 a.m. Sunday morning on NBC Sports.
Later that same day, at 12:30 p.m. ABC airs the Indy Car Grand Prix of Indianapolis. It’s run on the road course at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and begins the run up to this year’s Indy 500.
And the weekend ends at 5 p.m. on MAVTV with their news show, Speed Sport.
While watching a race on TV is great the best thing is to get out and see racing live at one of the two dirt tracks. There you can see the action, hear all the sounds and smell the excitement short track racing offers a fan.
