RACING PREVIEW OF A WILD WEEKEND AHEAD FOR FANS
This week’s racing preview includes the annual classic on the Comstock, the Virginia City Grand Prix that kicks off the weekend.
Saturday is for the fast guys and gals that race as Pros, Experts and Amateurs. As usual they will line up in rows of 10 and once again two head start positions will be auctioned off.
Then at 10 a.m. the green waves as the first line is sent off. This year they start facing north and will make a sharp right turn and head down the hill to a new course.
New this year is that the pits and vendor area have been moved to the south of town and east of the railroad tracks.
After four hours the checkered is thrown but the first to take it might not be the leader as that rider is usually on the course.
Then on Sunday Novice riders, Women, Vintage and Bomber bikes get their turn. Once again there will be an auction for a head start position and the race starts at 10 a.m. but this time the checkered is thrown three hours later.
New this year is a special vintage course that should be easier on those bikes and ancient riders.
Later Saturday evening, around 6 p.m., the American Valley Speedway in Quincy, Calif. begins its 2015 season. Closer to home at the Fernley 95A Speedway, starting around 6 p.m., the midgets from the BCRA season return to the track and the Pro Stocks will be racing for a added purse.
