After the Easter break racing resumes here and all over the world.
Locally action begins at the Fernley 95A Speedway around 2 p.m. when Fernley 95A Speedway hosts its second points race of the year.
To the east Lovelock Speedway is helping the town’s volunteer Fire Department with a car wash that runs from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m.
MRANN hosts a weekend of racing northeast of Doyle, California as the Lassen Motorcycle Clubs stages the Diamond Back Hare Scrambles.
Saturday’s action begins at 9:30 a.m. when the Pee Wee racers are flagged off. Following that will be the V-Women, Mini Bikes, Bombers and Vintage Bikes. Then on Sunday, starting at 10 a.m. the big bikes race on a 33-mile long loop and anyone wanted to be classed as a finisher has to complete two laps.
The final round of the Spring into Action motocross races will be hosted this weekend by the Old Timer’s Club with help from the Over The Hill Gang. It’s at the Fernley Lion’s Motocross Track, or the Sandbox, just west of the Veteran’s Cemetary.
Practice is on Saturday from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. and on Sunday, at 9 a.m. the gate drops for the first moto.
Closer to home on Sunday the Klassic Kruisers host a Chevy Spring Swap Meet at the Reno A&W from 6 a.m. until 3 p.m. Then, at the Starbucks at 191 Damonte Ranch Parkway there will be a Euro car show starting at 9 a.m.
Television this week has something for about any racing fan.
On Thursday MAVTV has the Lucas Oil Late Model Winter Nationals at 3 p.m. followed at 4 p.m. by Speed Sport and the Winter Heat Sprint Car Showdown. Then at 9 p.m. a re-air of the Best in the Desert Parker 425 event.
There are two NASCAR series race at Texas this weekend.
Fox Sports 1 carries Friday’s Xfinity event, starting a 5 p.m., while on Saturday starting at 4:30 p.m. Fox carries the Sprint Cup event.
There are also several other events on Saturday for the racing fan.
MAVTV is showing the FIA World Rally event from Sweden starting at 9 a.m. followed by noon by the SRL Racing Series Winter Showdown.
Fox Sports 1, at 5 p.m. Saturday carries the Supercross event from Houston where Ryan Dungey might sew up the 450 title as 250 West series returns to the track.
Later the evening, starting at 10:30 p.m. on NBC Sports the Chinese Grand Prix for the Formula 1 series will be aired. And on Sunday NBC sports, starting at 12:37 p.m., carries the Indy Car Grand Prix of Louisiana.
And at 10 p.m. CBS Sports carries both motos of the FIM MotoGP from Argentina.
For the straight line fans that can’t make it Las Vegas ESPN2 will carry action from the Mello Yellow NHRA event down there. Qualifying begins at 3 p.m. Saturday with the finals starting at 5 p.m. on Sunday.
All in all its a busy weekend for racing.
