Now that the season’s first motocross race is in the books riders are looking forward to the second round at the Livfast Exit 28 track, located east of Sparks.
There will be practice from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday then short sessions Sunday morning with a 9 a.m. start to the first motos. The track is being worked on and watered all this week so the dirt should be great.
And as a final reminder, this Friday, March 13, is the deadline for pre entries to this year’s Virginia City Grand Prix.
For fans of the AMA flat track series there are two races being broadcast live on Thursday and Friday. They are streamed on the Internet starting at 4:30 p.m. on www.fanschoice.tv.
Over the winter there was a sanctioning problem with the Daytona 200 and while that has been settled at present there will be no television coverage on TV or fanschoice.tv. Hard to believe this classic race won’t be broadcast.
Saturday’s round of the AMA Supercross series will be televised live on Fox Sports 2 this weekend starting at 4:30 p.m. and it will be re-aired on Fox Sports 1 starting at 12:30 a.m. until 3:30 a.m. Sunday.
Locally Fernley 95A Speedway is hosting an open practice beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday. On both Saturday and Sunday the Northern Nevada Kart Club stages its annual practice races at Desert Park Raceway with a noon start each day.
NASCAR fans can enjoy practice and qualifying for the Xfinity and Sprint cup series Friday on Fox Sports 1. The series are in Phoenix this year as part of the first ever western swing.
Breaking News from NASCAR: Kurt Busch has had his indefinite suspension lifted as the Delaware has dropped its criminal complaint against him. But NASCAR still has requirements for him to continue, especially with regards to his off track behavior.
So he’s now on an indefinite probation but has a waiver so he can participate in the Chase if he earns enough points. At this time it’s not known if Busch will be in the 41 car at Phoenix or not.

For Formula 1 fans the long winter wait is over as NBC Sports broadcasts the Australian Grand Prix starting at 9 p.m. on Saturday.
Drag Racing fans will keep tuned to ESPN2 as the network broadcasts the latest NHRA event from Gainsville, Florida. The final eliminations are tape delayed on Sunday running from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
As usual MAVTV has many programs and on Thursday among them is Dirty 30, at 10 a.m. followed at 10:30 by Inside Drag Racing and at 1 p.m. SRL racing from Las Vegas.
On Saturday at noon there is FIA World Rally Championship Racing 2015, which might be a preview of the coming season. Then on Sunday, at 5 p.m., another re-broadcast of this January’s Chili Bowl Nationals.
