As we head into spring racing is gearing up for the season ahead and once again there is a variety to events to see on TV as well as an event relatively close to this area fans can go see live.
First and foremost there has been a change at the annual Virginia City Grand Prix. Unlike in years past the pits have been moved south to the area south and east of the 4th Ward School on the south side of town.
Now trailers will have to enter from the south and they won’t be parking near the hotel. At this time no word if the starting area will be changed but there of course will be some changes to the course. Pre Entry Postmark opens on February 9 while the drawing party is set for March 28th.
This weekend Supercross moves to Oakland so some fans will be able to get over the hill and actually see it live.
For those sticking at home they can see the practice sessions streaming on the Internet. Go to www.supercrossonline.com the click on the Supercross Live window.
The broadcast on Fox Sports 1 will begin at 7 p.m. Saturday.
Another major event slated this weekend is the annual Rolex Daytona 24, a twice around the clock endurance event that kicks off road racing. The start will be broadcast on Saturday, starting at 11 a.m. on Fox then at 1 p.m. switch to Fox Sports 2.
At 5 p.m. the race moves to Fox Sports 1 then from 7 p.m. until 4 a.m. Sunday it’s streamed on www.imsa.com. The final hours will be televised on Fox Sports 1 beginning at 4 a.m. Sunday morning.
Not being left behind in all this is MAVTV. On Thursday, beginning at 11 a.m. there is live coverage of the FIA World Rally Championship from Monte Carlo.
More Thursday programming begins a 1:30 p.m. as the Dirty 30 show airs followed at 4 p.m. by Speed Sport and finally part one of the IHRA World Finals at 5:30 p.m.

The Lucas Oil Chili Bowl Nationals is a classic indoor race featuring midget racers with drivers coming from all over. If you missed the live coverage last Saturday never fear as MAVTV will re-air the event Saturday starting at 1 p.m.
Then early Sunday morning, at 3 a.m., MAVTV will once again air live coverage of the FIA World Rally Championship event from Monte Carlo.
