This weekend is championship time for two different series, one local and the other international. Both events wind up racing for this year.
•
East of Fernley the desert racers of MRANN square off for their final event. The pits are located on the south side of I-80 off the Nightingale exit.
Titles will be clinched while other racers are riding to secure their places in the points.
The action begins Saturday with a 45-minute race for the Pee Wee riders. Then, at 11 a.m. the Mini Bikes/Women/Vintage and Bombers begin their 90-minute event.
Sunday is for the big bikes that race on a 45-mile loop with a 10 a.m. start time. Any rider wishing to be classed as a finisher has to complete one of the two laps. And the Desert Fox might yet again claim another over all points title.
As an incentive for those wanting to try desert racing MRANN will once again offer a free one-day card.
• Closer to home, in Lemmon Valley, Tyler Pfeifer is hosting another of his motocross training school if the weather permits. It’s a two-day event using a newly configured track, including one just for Pee Wee riders.
For further information either call him at 775-690-6877 or go to his website at, www.dirtshark91@aol.com.
• The television schedule is a bit crowded with the Formula One series racing in Abu Dhabi. The event will be worth double points and at the end of the day either Nico Rosberg or Lewis Hamilton will be crowned World Champion.
NBC Sports will carry the race live beginning at 4:30 a.m. on Sunday
MAVTV begins its coverage today at 5:30 p.m. with the second installment of the 2014 IHRA Nitro Drag Racing series.
Then on Sunday the IHRA program is repeated at 5:30 p.m. followed by Dave Despain at 8:30 p.m. with his interview show.
Earlier on Sunday, Channel 2 will have an hour of Lucas Oil Offroad action from 11 a.m. until noon.
