GUMBALL 3000 RALLY BEINGS EXOTIC CARS AND SOME START TO RENO.
Reno (Thursday, May 28)) — Even though it was a bit delayed the Gumball 3000 Rally paid Reno a brief visit Wednesday.
The rally itself was created in 1999 by British entrepreneur Maximillion Cooper and is an international charity featuring stars from entertainment and the sporting world. After starting in Europe it has grown to a world hopping event.
This year the Rally runs from May 23rd through May 30th and covers two continents.
After starting in Stockholm participants journeyed to Amsterdam where their cars were loaded onto aircraft Tuesday night and headed for Reno.
They may have first gone to Portland to clear customs but after that Reno was the destination. This led so some delays but soon enough cars and drivers were in the ground here.
After that it was off to downtown where the cars were staged under and by the arch. And greeted by a throng of people that jammed both sidewalks and the street itself.
There were several exotic cars to be seen as well as some domestic ones that probably were anything but stock.
Once time was up everyone got into their respective cars and headed for San Francisco. Today they will drive all the way to Los Angeles and stop over night.
On Friday its off to Las Vegas where there will be a two-day festival featuring stars including Tony Hawk and friends that will be giving skateboard demonstration.
Finally the Rally ends on Saturday. After that some or most of the cars will be put on aircraft and headed back to Europe.
As for the stars, they’ll head for their home bases.
