  • RATTLESNAKE RACEWAY OPENS ITS 2024 SEASON

    FALLON, NV (April 20) — Great spring weather greeted racers and fans as Rattlesnake Raceway opened the new season. The two-day show ran Friday and Saturday nights and a boy and a girl got a free bike that second night. Saturday’s program began on a somber note. Drivers lined up on the front stretch to honor Loretta Christiano, who suddenly passed away last week at a Dwarf Car National in Bakersfield, California.   • NORTHERN NEVADA KART CLUB SEASON OPENER

    STEAD, NV (April 21) — With almost perfect weather the Northern Nevada Kart Club staged the first round of its 2024 season. Racing with a new compound tires offered a challenge but the drivers seemed pleased with them.. After two sets of heat races and an intermission it was time for the main events. Since the shortest course was used there were more laps for the heats and mains. Leading off was the Kid Kart class and their main was 10-laps long.   • LOVELOCK SPEEDWAY SEASON OPENER

    LOVELOCK, NV (April 13) — On a weekend that saw a very windy and dusty Saturday Lovelock Speedway held its season opener, a two-day show. Unfortunately the car count was lower than expected but there was still some good racing. Once the track was set during the heats Saturday it was time for the mains. The first one combined the IMCA Modifieds and the IMCA Northern Sport Mod classes. On the green Walter Ball challenged Shawn Natenstedt.   • MRANN AT LOVELOCK

    LOVELOCK, NV (April 7) — Mason Valley Dirt Squirts staged the third round, called the Mazuma 100, of the 2024 MRANN season. The pits and finish were located at the Lovelock Speedway and the start was about a half mile away. The classes were broken down into various groups with the AA pros starting first. It took seven rows to get every one started as they roared toward the hills. At the end of the first lap two AA pro riders were battling for the lead.     FERNLEY, NV (MARCH 31) — The second round of the 2024 Battle Born MX series was held at the Fernley Sand Box on Easter Day. The started off slick and pits were a bit muddy from Saturday’s rain but the cold north wind helped dry things out. There was a huge turn out despite the weather. In the 50cc Class the Open race has 23 starters while the 6 & Under group had 21 on the gate while 7 & Up had 19 starters. The 65cc and 85cc classes also had large numbers on the starting gates.   • STADIUM GP AT THE RENO RODEO ARENA

    RENO, NV (March 24, 2024) — This May the Stadium Grand Prix will be held at the outdoor arena, the same venue the Reno Rodeo uses. It’s a partnership between two long time friends.   • LOCKETT SHOW FILLS THE CONVENTION CENTER

    RENO, NV (March 22) — One sign of spring is the Lockett RV and Boat show at the Convention Center. Between the RV, Boat and Home Show there is something for just about everyone, even some Girl Scouts selling cookies. As usual part of the show is the annual Off-Road Motorsports Expo. This year there was a motorsport part addition to the usual Off-Road Groups. Dave Asher, general manager of the reborn Reno-Fernley Raceway was on hand with a display about the complex.     FERNLEY, NEVADA (March 17) — This past year the Reno-Fernley Raceway changed hands. Owner Dan Shore now has selected a manager, who was the very first one when the complex was built 25 years ago.     SPARKS, NV (March 10) — Daylight Savings time began with Sparks Cars & Coffee having its first meet of the month. As usual variety was the theme as owners brought their cars and trucks to show and be admired. One combination was a BMW sedan parked by a Ford 150 4X4. It made for quite a contrast.
